New Hip-Hop Artist In The ATL!
CEE HAS THE DETAILS BELOW!
Looking to make a name in Hip-Hop? Well, Atlanta is the place to be. Atlanta is the home of Trap music where artists such as Migos, Rich Homie Quan, and Young Thug all have made household names for themselves in the world of Hip-Hop. Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing a new face in music; an artist named ShonxBrown. I’ve known this artist for years now, and I know for a fact he has what it takes. A native of East Atlanta, he knows that he has big shoes to fill when it comes to making his music noticeable in the ATL.
When asked what his musical influences were he stated, “My dad is my biggest inspiration. Growing up, he was a disc jockey and watching him built my love for music.” Many artists get inspired by people they grew up around. Shon’s love for music started at an early age. When it comes to making up concepts for his music and videos Shon keeps it personal with things going on with his life and thought process. In other words, music and real life situations go hand in hand.
Lil Wayne has been a major idol for him. Lil Wayne has inspired and been an idol to many new artists. According to Shon, his style is different from the rest and could never be duplicated. From Juvenile, Hot Boys, Cash Money and now Young Money many can agree with Shon that Lil Wayne has put himself in a different category than other Hip-Hop artists. Fans of Shon can see that he is trying to put himself in a different category. One of my personal favorites Chris Brown also inspires Shon to perfect his craft. Along with T.I., Rocko and Drake. All of these entertainers are established and have been in the game for a long time motivating people to create music.
Even though Shon hasn’t done any big collaborations, that doesn’t stop him from pursuing music. Being a new artist in Atlanta comes with difficulties and challenges, said Shon. He believes you will come across people who will want to do what you are doing, and it’s up to the artist to make themselves stand out amongst all odds. In this business, it is important to be versatile because so many artists are emerging and falling off. I feel as though the worst thing that can happen to an artist is to gain so much hype then fall off. It shows that this is a dog eat business, and you must be consistent with your grind. Trinidad James lost his deal with the record label Def Jam. This can be disheartening news to any new musician who just blew up.
Shon plans to avoid this by increasing his work ethic and recording new material each week. He also plans to invest in many opportunities to keep his money flow going.
His life has changed so much since becoming a recording artist. Shon states, “It shows me who is really there for me and who is only here for what I can or will be able to do for them. This business has helped me separate the real from the fake.” Close relationships are crucial. It’s always good to have people who are down for you and want to see you succeed. Now a day’s you have many people who hang with you because of your name and money.
However, many overcome this due to the support of their fans. Shon has a crazy number of fans who not only support him but his music as well. He says, “My support system is the shit.” He shows major love to those who support his music and will do almost anything for them. Staying humble and producing great music is almost a guarantee win in the world of Hip-Hop. Shon will be releasing new music soon!
