Angela Davis’ story will soon be shown in theaters.
Angela is a political activist and a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Davis was accused of several crimes including murder during the Marin County Courthouse hostage taking in 1970. She was acquitted in 1972 of all charges.
Codeblack Films will be developing and producing Davis’ biopic. Nina Yang Bongiovi is one of the producers of the film. She has worked on films such as Dope & Fruitvale Station. Jeff Clanagan, the CEO of Codeblack will also be producing the film along with Sidra Smith. Smith produced the documentary Free Angela And All Political Prisoners in 2012. Eisa Davis, Davis’ niece, will write the script for the film and will be an executive producer along with her aunt.
