New Edition and Chance the Rapper will be honored at the upcoming BET Awards.


BET will present this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award to R&B group New Edition and Chance the Rapper will receive BET’s Humanitarian Award presented by Walmart.


New Edition includes Bobby Brown, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell and Johnny Gill. The legendary R&B group is coming off the rating success of their self-titled biopic. The BET three-part miniseries broadcasted in January. The group is best known for hit records such as “Candy Girl” and “Cool It Now.”


Chance the Rapper is known not only for his music but his humanitarian work. He made news this year when he donated $1 million to Chicago Public Schools.  He also won three Grammy Awards in February including best new artist and best rap album for Coloring Book.


The 2017 BET Awards will be hosted by Leslie Jones and will air live on June 25 at 8 p.m. at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on BET.
