Roc-A-Fella co-founder Dame Dash is notorious for speaking his mind. The mogul is not someone you want to have a confrontation with. Unfortunately, Oscar-winning director Lee Daniels could not escape the raft of one of hip-hop’s significant figures.
Dash approached Daniels at Diana Ross’ Hollywood Bowl show on June 16 in Los Angeles. The confrontation was intense, and of course, it was all caught on camera. Dash expressed his ill feelings to Daniels for allegedly failing to repay him $2 million.
Dash claims he gave the Empire producer the $2 million to help him start his film career ten years ago. The music mogul privately sued Daniels in the past for the unpaid debt.
“As a Black man, I gave you the money that you needed, so how are you not gonna give me my money?” Dame shouts at Daniels. “How? 2 million dollars, bro! That’s like working capital.”
Dash threatens to go public with his lawsuit if Daniels refuses to repay his debt. Daniels looked unbothered during the confrontation but acknowledges his wrongdoing. The director offers to speak with him via a phone call to discuss the situation at an appropriate time.
“Damon, I will call you,” Daniels said. “I know I’m wrong.”
The crowd didn’t seem to notice the confrontation between Dash and Daniels, but social media sure had a field day once the video reached the masses.
Dash took to IG and along with the video, posted a lengthy caption expressing his thoughts on the situation.
