The world lost an iconic, legendary, multi-talented musician, the Queen of Soul. Aretha Franklin passed away Thursday, Aug.16 at 76-years-old following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Franklin’s family announced that they would have a public viewing and private funeral in her native hometown, Detroit.
The public viewing for Franklin will take place Tuesday, Aug.28 and Wednesday, Aug.29 at Detroit’s very own Charles H.Wright Museum of African-American History. The viewing hours are from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Her funeral will take place the morning of Aug.31 at Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple. Franklin’s burial is at Detroit’s Woodlawn Cemetery, and she will be buried alongside her late father Rev.C.L. Franklin, brother Cecil Franklin, sisters Carolyn Franklin and Erma Franklin and nephew Thomas Garrett.
