What’s good CeeSoDope readers?

Ok, let me be the first to say that I’m embarrassed that I’ve never heard of Willie Dee. While watching the Hip-Hop Evolution series on Netflix, his name was brought up in “The Southern Way” episode. I learned that Willie Dee is a member of the rap group The Geto Boys, founded by legendary hip-hop promoter James Prince who also goes by J.Prince.

The Geto Boys consists of Willie Dee, Scarface, and Bushwick Bill. You might know the trio for their hit record “My Mind Playing Tricks On Me.”

Yeah, you remember this classic right?

Before this dope record dropped, the Houston rapper released his 1989 track “5th Ward” from his album, Controversy. Letting everyone know how it goes down in Texas, Willie Dee laid down one of the hardest tracks while on the Rap-A-Lot Records label.

Check it out below:

Happy Flashback Friday Y’all!
