Hip-hop has lost one of their greatest sons. Rapper Nipsey Hussle was gunned down Sunday in Los Angeles near his Marathon Clothing store. Two other people were injured in the shooting around 3:30 p.m. They were transported to a hospital, where both are in stable condition. The 33-year-old born Ermias Davidson Asghedom was shot several times in the head and torso. Before his death, Nipsey was in the process of releasing a documentary about Dr.Sebi, who claimed to have the cure for AIDS before his passing in 2016. Many speculate on whether the MC’s death had something to do with the government, a personal hit, or was gang-related.
While the reason for the shooting of Nispey is unknown, the Los Angeles native is remembered for his dedication to bettering the impoverished Crenshaw community. Hundreds have since gathered in front of his Marathon Clothing store to pay their respects by leaving memorial candles and flowers.
The hip-hop community also gave their thoughts on the death of the slain MC. Artists such as J.Cole, Pharrell, Nas, and Diddy were among the many who poured out their condolences for Nipsey’s friends, family, and his longtime girlfriend Lauren London.
We have done @NipseyHussle wrong…he was sharing his purest self, his vision, and traits from his heritage with all of us: empowerment and a sense of community, something that many of us don’t have. White supremacy at its finest couldn’t have done something this terrible?
