Yesterday (Thursday, September 5) was a sad day for Barbz all over the world. Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to announce her retirement from music. Why may you ask? Well, the 36-year-old is ready to start a family with fiancé Kenneth Petty. “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me.” In the last part of her tweet, the New York native references her lyrics on the remix of Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire.”

Minaj’s announcement arrives weeks after she told the public that she and Petty plan to tie the knot during a segment on her Queen Radio show. “We filed for the marriage license, and we still had to pick it up, and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again,” Minaj explained. “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”

The couple plans to have an intimate ceremony with family and friends. Check out how the Barbz reacted to her retirement announcement below.
