REMEMBERING THE LEGACY OF SHAWTY LO!
Shawty Lo, born Carlos Walker passed away in a car accident on September 21, 2016. He was 40-years-old when he was killed in the fiery crash.
Shawty Lo was ejected in the accident when his 2016 Audi went through a highway guardrail and hit two trees. The car then caught on fire. According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, Walker’s cause of death was blunt force trauma. There were two other people in the car with Shawty Lo. The two women have been identified as Destini Carter and Deshondria Miller. Carter and Miller were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with no serious injuries.
Carlos Walker (Shawty Lo) grew up in Bowen Homes. Shawty Lo was a founding member of the popular hip-hop group D4L. He founded D4L Records in 2003, and some of his greatest hits include “Dey Know, Dunn Dunn,” and “Foolish.” Not only was he a musician that influenced Atlanta culture but he was also the father of 11 children.
There was a vigil held for Shawty Lo in Bankhead on the evening of his passing.
Manager of D4L, Johnnie Cabbell stated that Shawty Lo’s funeral is on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Jackson Memorial.
