According to Nielsen Music, songs performed on the 2018 Grammys’ increased in massive sales with downloads as much as 328 percent.
The performed tracks sold 74,000 downloads. Bruno Mars received one of the most significant boosts, with 24k Magic increasing 157 percent. His hit record “That’s What I Like” peak 176 and 186 percent.
Kendrick Lamar also had a boost in sales with his album, DAMN. DAMN experienced a 92 percent rise while his track “Humble” sales peak by 71 percent. The Compton rapper’s award-winning collaboration track, “Loyalty” featuring Rihanna rose at 273 percent which is around 1200 units.
For the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, all of Mars’ six nominations resulted in wins. The 32-year-old took home record of the year and album of the year for 24k Magic. He also took home the gold award for song of the year for “That’s What I Like” including best R&B album, best R&B performance and best R&B single for “That’s What I Like.”
Lamar won five awards. The 30-year-old took home best rap album for DAMN, the best rap song, best rap performance, and best music video for his single “Humble” and as stated above, his collaboration record with Rihanna, “Loyalty” won the best rap/sung performance.
